In If Nick Drake Came to My House, Mackenzie Crook – the creator of Detectorists and Worzel Gummidge – explores the power of art to change our lives, expressed through an imaginary visit from the late, great singer-songwriter Nick Drake.
Nick Drake did not reach a wide audience during his brief lifetime, but his music gradually found critical acclaim and a devoted following after his death at the age of just 26. Publishing this November around the 50th anniversary of his passing, this special book is both a celebration of his memory and a heartwarming reminder of the impact a person can have on others, though they might not realise it. A tender homage to a classic book by Joan Gale Thomas, Crook’s first book for adults is infused with his characteristic warm humour, both in the story and his beautiful illustrations.

About the author Mackenzie Crook is a BAFTA award-winning writer, comedian, actor, and director known for his work across TV, film and theatre. He is known for playing Gareth Keenan in The Office, as well as Hollywood roles such as Ragetti in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and Orell in the HBO series Game of Thrones. He created and starred in the BAFTA-winning sitcom Detectorists, and he wrote, directed and starred in the recent TV adaptation of Worzel Gummidge. He is the author of two books for children, The Windvale Sprites and The Lost Journals of Benjamin Tooth. He lives in London.
